Mareck Center for Dance’s 19th anniversary season

November 15 & 16, 2024 – Kinetic Visions

“Kinetic Visions” is a mesmerizing dance performance that explores the dynamic interplay between movement, space, and the human spirit. This innovative production, featuring 3 world premieres choreographed by Karen Mareck Grundy, Kristopher Estes-Brown and guest choreographer Noelle Kayser, invites the audience into a world where the boundaries between reality and imagination blur, creating an immersive experience that is both visually stunning and emotionally profound. More than a dance performance, “Kinetic Visions” is a celebration of the limitless potential of human creativity. Through a seamless blend of movement, music, and visual art, it takes the audience on a journey of discovery, inspiration, and wonder. Each work is meticulously crafted to evoke a range of emotions and provoke thought, making “Kinetic Visions” a truly unforgettable experience.

April 18 & 19, 2025 – Cinderella

Mareck Dance, in collaboration with the Odyssey Chamber Music Series, proudly presents an original production of Sergei Prokofiev’s Cinderella, performed with two grand pianos on stage, first showcased in 2018. Transforming glass slippers into pointe shoes, this contemporary retelling reinterprets a well-loved fairy tale, giving Cinderella an unexpected twist. Blending timeless themes of love and self-discovery with the joys and challenges of modern life, the story captures the journey of becoming a woman, developing independence, and embracing diversity, sparking both hilarity and compassion. The first act will feature two world premieres by artistic director Karen Mareck Grundy and resident choreographer Kristopher Estes-Brown. Additionally, there will be a guest performance by another professional dance company from our region which will also be part of Cinderella.

June 7 & 8, 2025 – Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland

Fall down the rabbit hole into the fantastical world first imagined by Lewis Carroll with Mareck Dance’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Karen Mareck Grundy’s original choreography, paired with Tom Andes’ captivating musical score, propels Carroll’s classic into the 21st century with sensational costumes, innovative dance, and a host of outlandish characters! Featuring local musicians and student dancers alongside Mareck Dance’s professional performers, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is a whimsical thrill ride the entire family will love. This enchanting production, which originally premiered in 2013, is performed biannually.

April 26 & 27, 2024 – Carmina Burana

Mareck Dance and Chorale Arts Alliance of Missouri reunite after five years, bringing you an extraordinary performance of Carmina Burana. This collaboration marks their triumphant return, following their initial joint production of Carmina in 2015. With original choreography by Karen Mareck Grundy and Joel Hathaway, prepare to be captivated as they intertwine the power of dance and choral artistry, breathing new life into this timeless masterpiece. Don’t miss this remarkable reunion, where the magic of Carmina Burana comes alive once again.

December 1, 2023 – Choreographic Installation

(COLUMBIA, MO) – Mareck Dance’s 2023-24 season continues with their annual ‘Choreographic Installation,’ a performance featuring new works choreographed by the company dancers. Once a year, the dancers are given the opportunity to expand their choreographic voice and create new pieces as part of a one night only installation.

At Missouri Theatre, presented by the University Concert Series

Experience an enchanting evening of contemporary ballet at Mareck Dance’s 18th Annual Fall Performance, Elevate, held at the Missouri Theatre. Be captivated by four world premieres choreographed by Artistic Director, Karen Mareck Grundy, Guest Choreographer, Colby Damon, Resident Choreographer, Kristopher Estes-Brown, and Company Dancer Nathan Crewe-Kluge.
